In the morning we head over to Le Marin where we expect it to be calmer.
Wrong. We find a space to anchor in the always crowded bay but I don’t like it much. Still, the wind is not so bad at this time of day so we head into town.
We find the dinghy canal that leads to the semi-industrial side of Le Marin. Poke around a bit at the chandlery and the sail maker (maybe get them to make us a new bimini/dodger in the fall – ours is almost in tatters). Then head off to a couple HomeSense style places where we buy a couple of shower fitting replacements for Milu. Ours are pretty sketchy with salt stains.
We’re pretty loaded with stuff so head back to Milu who is still floating at anchor, unload and have lunch while I try to install one of these shower fittings. Shouldn’t be a problem but I need a long thin screwdriver as mine is too thick. I break the scrappy little one I found in the bottom of my tool bag.
We head back in to the main chandlery side. I have to take a call while Christy scopes out the place. We’re both a little surprised at this place. We’d heard that Le Marin is home to the largest chandleries in the Caribbean but the ones here seem smaller than IWW in Grenada and seem low on stock. Plenty of choice tho. I try to find a place to get thin screwdrivers. No go. We end up walking up to the main road to a hardware store but they don’t have them either. It’s a pleasant walk back down tho.
Back at Milu, the wind is really hooping and I don’t like this anchorage at all. The anchor is shallow but the boat drifts back into deeper water so there is not much chain on the sea floor. We are swinging back and forth like crazy and the wind gusts are wild.
I hardly sleep.
