01 April to 05 April 2025, Mt. Hartman Bay, Grenada

Got pretty far behind with this. As I am writing this, it is now May 24th and I’m sitting in my office at the cottage.

We spent the last week in Grenada getting the boat ready to leave for 7 months. We eventually find a break in the heavy winds and take down the foresail. A sheave breaks on the way down and so we’ll have to replace that next fall.

(Side note, after talking to the Rigging Shoppe, Beneteau and Selden, I just found the manufacturer – z-spar today, May 2025. They ship me the replacement but now I have to buy a 1/4″ rivet gun and the regular tool supply companies don’t carry them. Sigh. Oh well, likely need it for the whisker pole mount anyway.)

We take the sail onto the Secret Harbour pier to try and fold it and pack it but with the heavy sail and big winds it gets a bid wet. We have to tie it down and wait for it to dry.

We’re waiting for Michael to come to measure/estimate for our new bimini/dodger. He shows up seems like a nice guy, pretty highly rated so we cut a deal. He’s got 6 months to get it done so hopefully that is enough!

We spend the next few days packing up and cleaning Milu for the 6 months we won’t be here. Lots of little jobs and some big ones. Christy does a ton of cleaning and vinegarizing while I change engine oil, pickle the water maker, and stuff like that.

Soon enough it is time for our flight home and we have George scheduled to take us to the airport. Flight is uneventful, we stay overnight at the condo, retrieve the car from Outer Harbour Marine and go home on the 6th of February.

It’s great to be back home but the weather is certainly different!
