This day was supposed to get us to Toronto by about midnight, but we won’t get that far which is why the post stops at Montreal.
More haul out jobs this morning, we are down to mostly cleaning stuff now. I swab the decks, amazing how dirty they are. Christy clears the fridges, and together we shut down the aft bathroom. Go thru the checklists.
I’m very happy to report that there is little-to-no water in the bilge. There is a bit, but I think it is just residual from the forward head. Nothing to worry about, I’m not going to leave the auto bilge pump on. This is the first time since landing back in Grenada the bilge has been dry. Once we started up Milu, there has always been water there.
The weather in Montreal is nasty and we’ve already got one notice our outbound flight is delayed. Hopefully we can still make the Montreal-to-Toronto connection. Eventually I call the taxi and we’re off to the airport. It’s a pretty nice airport, pretty quiet and before long we’re at the gate with a baguette waiting for our late plane.
The flight is uneventful but on landing Montreal is frightful. We sit on the tarmac for about 45 minutes and altho our Toronto flight is also delayed it doesn’t look good to catch it. Oddly, we need to go through customs, get our own bags and recheck in at departures instead of just going direct through connections channels. Everything seems to be closed so I guess that is why.
We eventually find our way to the Air Canada check in counter upstairs where another couple is arranging their free hotel stay. The plane we want to catch is leaving in 15 minutes but no way to get on it. AC puts us up at Ramada Inn midtown. Free taxi both ways so not bad, we should be reasonably rested for tomorrow’s drive home.
