Day 3 – Utica to Annapolis

Crazy good breakfast from hosts Anne and Allen with Mike and Cindy from Bawsten (trying to replicate the accent). That meal had to be worth $20 each and good coffee too. Another beautiful November morning that would eventually turn to clouds with some rain but not bad.

Zat coffee in that urn?
200 years old. Not a square inch of the place without chochka. People awesome.

It’s a nice drive on good roads and the Pennsylvania mountains are interesting and quite beautiful but we decide to just hightail it to Annapolis rather than dawdle.

We do take some detours for gas and coffee. One into Binghamton – a very depressed looking ex-city that appears to be the seat of sin in PA. Home of Rod Serling is hastily departed. But other detours are quite quaint and the hills of PA look lovely. You would be a champion cyclist if you practiced around here.

Traffic is generally pretty good as Christy drives the whole day – probably 9 hours behind the wheel all told and we roll into our cute BnB about 5:30 pm. Unload a bit and walk to downtown Annapolis as we need to stretch the legs and unwind.

It’s probably about a mile to downtown especially since I miss the first turn but we make it to the centre where, surprisingly to us and our eventual waitress, it is absolutely hopping. Tons of young kids (like college age) and what we guess are navy cadets all in uniform. We walk around a bit and do some people watching, pass on the seaside bar/restaurant that is too high priced and equally high nosed for our tastes. Find a decent little spot where we just want something light and a glass of wine each. Our waitress makes us laugh so I overtip but she deserved it. This is a Saturday night in November? What’s it like during the world’s biggest boat show? Crazy, she says.

I call this C moon P

Nice walk home where we sit on the couch for a bit and think about tomorrow.

Can you make a baby?
