First time in a long time Hard Christy is up first shortly after 5 am as they have to be at their gig for 6 am. They leave just before 6 and I pack up a bit, do a bit of work and get ready to go. I’m on the road about 7:15 am as we start the next phase of this adventure where we split up for a week.
Of course I try to jerry-rig the coffee maker first to make my coffee instead of their custom packages. Makes a mess of the coffee maker and the desk. Sigh. Outrageously priced hotel Starbucks will have to do. (I’ve always wondered about the word outrageous. Is there an inrageous? Is there a rageous?)
Nice drive to Ocala for a quick gas stop, wanna hit an AT&T to top up our SIM card but it is still too early for anyone to be open. I roll on for a few more hours to Tallahassee which is less than an hour before my final stop. Nice drive, some tunes, some podcasts, and find a couple old time 50s radio drama shows on satellite radio which are very entertaining.
It’s about noon and I just guessed at a logical Tallahassee exit and score on an AT&T. I also want to get a pair of shorts and log in to CIBC and there is a sports store in a nearby mall – probably somewhere there I can get wifi too. In the words of Audrey and Ben the mall is a bit “stabby”. The sports store is clearly geared for a completely different demographic and half of the other stores are boarded up. Good thing I have my Swiss Army knife for protection.
Wotsis? There’s a Value Village lookalike which I don’t realize until I enter. Great pair of shorts for $12 and I am gone again. Find a smoothie place that lets me use their wifi for the price of a $10 smoothie (which you’d think crazy except it’s awesome and damn near one liter). Stock up at the Total Wine and More store which I wish we had in Canada and I’m off.
Half hour later I’m at Flat Creek Family Campground which is really an RV park that happens to have a couple tent sites. Nice and quiet this time of year and Cindy gives me my pick of spots. Got a bit of a pavillion covering the picnic table, power and water. No wifi but the hot spot will cover. Set up the tent, test the stove (thank God that works) and decide on a quick 20 km bike ride around a local loop. Holy smokerony, there are hills here – haven’t seen one since Pennsylvania. Last hill coming up the valley is a tough one but feels good.

It’s cool, I’m pretty bundled up outside – even a skull cap but very comfortable as I wait for my pasta dinner to rehydrate.
Just saw a shooting star. Gonna shut down and have my dinner. Weather looks a bit dodgy tomorrow (all week not great actually) but hopefully I can golf.

So nice to see Beautiful sisters CG and JK reuniting and heading into their retreat. Sounds like all will get experiences their looking forward to (Perry finding great coffee and Christy and Joy finding some serious meditation and self discovery time…. Likely Perry will find same if he can end up finding some better/inspirational coffee..💕💕)…
Thanks for the chuckles, Perry:). Love the description of “shabby”! Thought it was a typo until I read on – haha!
Meant stabby . . . .damn auto-correct.
Awesome notes, Perry! It’s winter here so stop whining about the weather there- it looks fabulous.
Fair enough Jane. But I was in full coat and toque last night camping in Florida.
How dare you sir, I have never once described something as “stabby”. This is slander I tell you!
I think you are sadly mistaken. I distinctly remember an open market in France as well as a comparison of Toronto liquor stores.
