My sister’s birthday today – Happy Birthday Julie!
We partake in the regular morning routine of Steve and Pat – Pat and Christy go to her gym for yoga, I go with Steve to LA Fitness for a swim, all by bikes. It’s a nice system they have here – neither of us will drive in a car for the whole weekend (although we do take some Ubers).
Back at the condo, we have breakfast and get ready for today’s adventure. We’re headed to Deerfield Beach – about a 50 minute bike ride to see the sights there and meet Pat and Steve’s friends – “Barfly” and his group. We strap on the backpack beach chairs and head out. It’s flat but hard on Christy who is using my old Rocky Mountain which is very uncomfortable for her. Amazing wealth in some of the homes along the A1A which splits the intercoastal and the ocean.
Quite the scene at Deerfield Beach, pretty busy as it is a holiday Saturday but not too bad. Barfly and his friends are playing 2-on-2 beach volleyball in the 30 degree heat and we turn our chairs to watch the games. That is, when the bikinis are playing behind us we turn and watch them, likewise the girls watch the men who are all ripped when they are playing. First we take a very deserved dip in the ocean, I’m amazed at how warm it is.
Definitely people watching is the #1 sport for us here as it is very entertaining. Almost zero of the typical Whale on the Beach you would expect but rather most people are fit, more than fit. Christy and I joke that if we lived here I would have to pump up, she would need implants and collagen shots for her lips. There is a lot of that.

Ride back is hot and hard for Christy but we all survive and are happy for a cold Proseco while we shower and get ready for dinner.

I owe Steve for a lost bet on DJ Trump in 2020 and this is my first opportunity to pay up. We Uber to Latitudes, an oceanside restaurant where we enjoy a great meal outside on the patio.

Next stop is free Eagles tribute band in the park by Atlantic Avenue which is hopping again on this Saturday night. Great fun as we sing every word and watch the people. Pretty sure those two forty-somethings in the tight dresses and, uh, augmented exteriors are groupies or wannabe groupies.

Uber back to the condo where we’re nodding off in our chairs before bed. Great day/night.
