I’m up pretty early, do a short walkabout after instant coffee. Sigh. Blue Lagoon Bay is very nice, water is clear and looks inviting. Perhaps a swim across later.

The view from our balcony at Barefoot. Bequia in the background, abandoned resort on left

Christy arises and we contemplate breakfast options but go for a beach walk first. Have to walk along the road a bit which is somewhat frightening but we survive and walk down to the beach at the Blue Lagoon resort just to the east of us. There’s a little market there where we buy a power converter and then continue down the beach. It’s Saturday but the still quiet – the locals will come out later in the afternoon.

We walk around the peninsula to the abandoned resort. It’s huge and we can’t help but wonder what happened here. It’s got a nice location and great beach and the scale of it is impressive. Just a massive, overgrown, unfinished concrete structure now but the plans must have been grand.

Walk back along the other beach and make the big climb back to our place. We were just going to jump off our jetty to cool off but are advised against as the boats come in today and it is not safe. Turns out to be pretty much true as a parade of yachts rolls in for the rest of the day.

Decide to walk to the next beach over but halfway there Christy’s flip flops are giving her blisters so we head back. Buy some bananas BUT THERE’S NO COFFEE ANYWHERE other than instant. Christy is a liar.

Back at our place we chill on our balcony and study our sailing exam until it gets too hot as the sun comes around. We have lunch downstairs and chat a bit with the other yachties who have just come in and are now headed back to their own countries. Everybody very happy with their time out sailing.

Around 3 pm we decide to walk back to the abandoned resort beach for a swim. We’ll stop for dinner on the way back. It’s great, the water is warm, the service at dinner poor, the food average and pricey but we’re fine with that. Hard to complain as we watch the sun go down in another glorious sunset.

Lunch at Blue Lagoon

Back at our place we were planning on going down for a glass but it’s only 6 pm. OK, power nap time. Turns out to be final nap as C changes her mind about going down and so there is no reason for me to get up. I haven’t slept like that in eons.

Rains hard overnight.
