Another beautiful day in SVG. The wind has slowed a bit since last week but still great sailing. The Pura Vida has a beautiful fly bridge where all 6 of us can sit in the shade and enjoy the ride. Auto pilot and electric winches makes Greg’s job much easier – we help as much as we can.
We’re fishing on route but manage to lose one decent size fish and throw a small jackfish back. Nothing else bites for days.
The sail to the Cays is different from our previous traverses in a couple ways. We sail past the Atlantic side of Canouan which we haven’t seen before and we enter the Cays from the ocean side which can only be attempted by someone who knows this water. Reefs everywhere but we cruise on in through 6 feet of water. Captain Neal (same guy who hosted us last week) meets us at the entry and of course knows Greg. Greg knows everyone and that is a massive advantage around here. Neal says “I knew it was a local when I saw you coming in that side”.
We moor in the channel like last week. Dave, Heather, Christy and I take the kayaks over to the beach where the snorkeling is best. This time we enter the surf on the reef side and swim around the sand bank. Much more life on the windy, reef side.
Not too long before we’re at the beach bbq again and having lobster again. This is a tough life tho it ain’t exactly cheap at CAD$60 for a lobster meal. The lobster is always good though and plenty of sides. I have kinda lost my taste for lobster generally but this never gets old.

Captain Ian and his new crew site beside us and we laugh a bit.
