Mar 14, 2023 – Bequia to Toronto via St. Vincent

Well this is it. Saying goodbye to St. Vincent and the Grenadines today after nearly 3 weeks.

Lucked out when Christy paid the rest of our hotel bill – they told us today is a National Holiday (Hero’s Day) and the ferry only runs at 6:30 am! We would have had to hire a speed boat to take us across Bequia Channel to St. Vincent. As it is, we just gotta get up a little earlier and kill a little more time on St. Vincent before our flight.

Thaddeus is right on time, the ferry is right on time and Phyllis is right on time at the other end. By 8 am we are sitting at a very nice table having a good (and not too expensive) breakfast at the Blue Lagoon. We had to come here anyway to pick up some clothes Heather forgot and since Barefoot’s kitchen is not open for the holiday this is the next best and probably better thing.

Pura Vida – great flying bridge where all 6 of us could sit in the shade while underway

It’s a beautiful spot to watch boats come and go and have another pot of pretty good coffee – wait, is that Greg? Sure enough it is our Pura Vida captain and we wave hello. He comes up, hugs all around and he says he’s got to go up to his farm and water some plants, would we like to go? Not only do we have 3 hours to kill, we’d love to go see his garden.

So he drives us up the hill, it’s not far and shows us around his patch. When we first see it we think it is fantastic, he’s got a large area of beautiful soil with perfect exposure. Turns out that’ we’re looking at maybe 10% of the acreage. He’s got everything you could imagine in a tropical garden and we’re pretty jealous of what he can get done, especially with almost 12 months of growing season.

Laura and her very cute niece (2 years old) come out too and Christy and I help Greg water the plants he wanted to protect from the hot day.

We go back down, have a very good native buffet-style lunch for only $7.50 each and then it’s time to meet Phyllis to go to the airport.

We go to the airport.

We get on a plane.

We fly to Toronto.

We Uber to see Audrey and pick up the car.

We drive home.

We go to bed.
