Just living the life here as the weather starts to warm up.
This taken a day after our return from the sunny south. Sunny here too!

Then one afternoon, 5ish, day I’m looking at the trees behind the cabana, checking for likely firewood candidates. I see a bump on a tree. What the heck is that? OMG it’s an owl! He/she is looking at me pretty nonchalantly, I take a pic and he flies away (amazing wingspan). Rats, I missed it. Nope – she just flies into the big black spruce in front of the cottage. Sits there for about 20 minutes – I call Christy and we both walk up within 10 or 12 feet and all he does is look at us.

Eventually flies away, what a beautiful bird.
Today, March 28, is another beautiful day, we’ve had about 4 in a row. The ice dam on the western eave finally fell with a crash about 11 am this morning.
In the afternoon I took a little adventure with Marc’s old bike converted to a snow machine and rode to the Arrowhead Park office. Couple of serious hills especially on that old steel thing – definitely need to adjust the seat. Should have taken some pics to make the Relive video a little more interesting. 45 minutes each way and my toes were close to froze by the time we got back. I think that’s cuz I went through a bunch of puddles and my feet got wet with very cold water.
So then I’m sitting at my desk just catching up after helping Juergen with some IT stuff and I can see 5 or 6 very large ravens flying around the trees out by the maple in the front yard. Must be something of interest there.
Sure enough there is.

No signs of violence or predator tracks – I suspect he died of natural causes or perhaps was poisoned. I roped up her legs and dragged her onto the ice.
