It’s hot. It’s sunny. Beautiful wind keeping us cool though in Clifton Harbour.
Still I had trouble sleeping so at 2 in the morning I get up and make the rope harnesses for the dinghy to be able to pull it up on the davits. Should work.
Coffee and chores then we’re going to fix the jib. We do it at anchor and it works pretty well and since now we know the McGiver to get a clutch to hold we are confident the jib halyard will keep the jib up. Still, it’s only about an hour from Clifton Harbour to Mayreau with a few turns so we just motor all the way. Christy at the helm.
We pull into Salt Whistle Bay (C wanted to go to Saline Bay but I talk her out of it). It’s not too crowded but a bit challenging to find a good anchor spot among the many cats at moorings. First you have to shake off the ubiquitous thieves trying to sell you a mooring/giving you anchoring advise for a fee/trying to get you to go to their restaurant/selling you fish, ice, etc.
We have a good spot, turns out not far behind Eric and Ella from yesterday. I drop the dinghy, I raise the davits and where is the right side steel bar bolt that holds the dinghy hoist up? In the ocean. Sigh. We dive for it, Christy checks out the anchor (good) I find the steel bolt (also good).
We go ashore, have a nice walk among the old hotel ruins, along the windward beach, back along the beach. There is Eric who invites us to dinner at Donna’s. Sold. First Christy goes for a swim in the shallows while I tease a local little cutie named Omala.

Back on the boat the wind is calm so I try the drone (see attached) while Christy has a shower and locks herself in. Luckily she is right below me where I’m flying the drone so I land the drone and rescue her.

Chicken dinner at Donna’s is great and we sit in the sand with Eric and Ella afterwards until it is sailor’s midnight – 9 pm.
Very little wind so I end up sleeping in the cockpit to keep cool. The common black bird lands on my leg in the night. Beautiful bird with a shrill cry.
