April 21st, 2024 Prickly Bay, Grenada

Slightly overcast which is a blessing.

We’re not that crazy about Prickly Bay.

Pros: Close to Budget Marine, Ace Hardware, RAM grocery, other restaurants, all walkable. The Prickly Bay Marina is pretty nice, great bar and restaurant. The public beach is good for swimming.

Cons: We’re packed like sardines in here on the moorings. Anchorages are few and in deep water. It’s really close to the airport so there are planes flying overhead all day. There’s no reef guarding the bay so there is always a swell.

We’re Canadians. We complain.

Today is Sunday so no retail action for us. We wanted to go to Church but no way I can walk there, even though that’s part of the reason we came to Prickly – it’s probably only a km away. We decide to try to figure out what this big tarp thing is for so we drag it and a few other mystery tarps over to the grassy area by the beach. We still don’t know what it is for although we do know how the strapping would attach to it. We think we’ll use it to get a sunshade made for the back of the boat. Generally we are happy with our shade situation except as the sun gets low in the west. Then it blares in the back of the boat and roasts you. We don’t have good sitting areas up front so the best thing is a vertical sunblocker hung off the dinghy davits that we can roll up and down.

The Big Mystery Tarp

Most of the day we spend working on the list of jobs we need to do and gear we need to do them. We’ll go to Budget and Ace first thing in the morning, we’re supposed to check out at 10 am so gotta get that stuff done early.

Christy takes advantage of the showers once more – I motor her in and wait.

Shower are not hot but not cold either.

Found out today that Paul Chabot died – old university friend taken by ALS way too young. RIP Paul.
