Jan 6, 2024 Petite Martinique

Another beautiful day, a Saturday. That is going to be an important factor in the mood of some people.

As usual, Christy and I are up and moving before the kids arise. We head out for the one hour motor sail to Union Island where we will check in to St. Vincent and the Grenadines then eventually make our way to Tobago Cays to see the promised turtles.

Holy mackinaw Joe! We forgot to check out of Grenada at Carriacou! Can’t check in if you don’t check out. We turn the boat around pronto and head back to Carriacou. Then realize we won’t make the customs office before it closes. Then realize the customs off for SVG on Union Island is closed on Saturdays.

Nice planning Mom and Dad. Turn the boat around, no point in going back to Carriacou. The children are, um, not happy.

Lots of grumbling but nothing for it but to make the best of it. We head over to Petite Martinique (PM, part of Grenada) which is pretty sleepy but apparently a great restaurant and they will give you a mooring ball if you eat there. OK sold. Then across the short channel to Petite St. Vincent (PSV) which is a private island but we know there are turtles off the shore and it’s pleasant.

Forget the name of the island with the umbrella – we attempted to anchor there but had some sailing communications issues. Not much to see there anyway, tho the snorkeling is decent.
Approach to PM

We actually see a few turtles from the boat off PSV but nothing in the water. The snorkeling is decent anyway.

Motor back to PM where we tie up to the tight anchor spot and go ashore for dinner in the al fresco restaurant. We are the only guests until one more foursome shows up a little later.

Dinner at the best restaurant on PM. Hate to see what the worst is like. That may be the worst glass of wine I have had in my life.

Food is good, price is high but oh well, we have a good time. I have perhaps the worst glass of red wine I have ever had in my life. It’s probably 10 years old.

We head back to the cat for more party games, then bedtime.
