Nice, hot sunny day.
I have two brainwaves in the night. One is that perhaps the dinghy is low on oil and that’s why it stopped and two, we can use the generator start battery to start the engine if we have to. Very early I climb into the dinghy and check the oil. It is pristine clear and full. So that ain’t it. Well, let’s see if she starts. Couple pulls and she’s purring like a kitten. I think there must have been some water in the gas so I make sure the pump bulb is high and dry and move on.
I check the generator battery and sure enough, it is the same make as the engine start battery so if we have to I can move it over. Still, I want to get some jumper cables so if something like this happens again we can quickly jump-start the engine without shuffling batteries around. (The house batteries are in the compartment right next to the engine start battery.)
Alright, well I’m reasonably comfortable we’re not going to have to swim to shore any time soon so it’s time to start on the job list.
Christy and I knock ’em off one by one and soon enough we have become organized and a bunch of broken stuff is actually working. We eventually put up the (still slightly ripped) bimini and Christy hangs some very cool lights in the back.
Long days, call for some rest.
