2024-Nov-9 Saturday, Woburn Bay, Grenada

Rains hard most of the morning, eventually turns into a pretty nice day.

Small hurricane through the night, even the experienced sailors in the bay will comment about it later. Musta been over 50 kts with a ton of rain. I get up a few times making sure the boat is not dragging/moving and even get my rain gear out in case I have to go out there. If things got dicey, we’d have to sail to safety which would not be fun. Happily, we hold well, though I’m thinking of how to double-up or otherwise backup our anchor harness.

Today we’re supposed to host the girls on Milu and go to Hog Island but the weather is really nasty. I remove the starter motor and take it in to James at Horizon, they will check it officially. Christy gets the boat ready for the girls’ arrival.

The weather is a bit dodgy so we dinghy over to LPB to see if the girls want to come to the boat. Grail and Netty profess some motion sickness issues so we’re wary of that. But it’s nice enough and so I make two trips to ferry everyone over.

Safely aboard with Christy’s Homemade Rum Punch

I get the drone out but somehow botch the video, it shows as corrupt later. When we get to Hog Island, it won’t fly as we’re too close to the airport.

We have a nice time, Christy nails the snacks, tho there are no Triscuits (my favourite, no one else apparently). The weather is rapidly improving so we decide to go to Hog Island which is very nearby. Two more ferry rides to get there.

We’re literally the only ones on the beach as the rain has kept everyone away. It’s very nice and we have a good time.

OK, time to think about dinner. We’ve decided to try Whisper Cove which is not far, on the other side of Woburn Bay and appears to have an interesting and affordable menu. Plus, it’s Happy Hour.

The Ocean Danger

We do have an excellent meal, very affordable and the rum flows. People are getting rather lubricated.

Of course we play cards waiting for Vie to arrive for the girls (otherwise it would be a long, wet, dark dinghy ride for them). Christy and I manage the short dinghy ride back to Milu.
