21 Nov 2024, Thursday, Woburn Bay, Grenada

Can’t remember why we were back at Clarke’s but we run into Nils who has put his old SUPs near the security desk and we agree to take them. They’re a bit awkward even when folded and it’s a crowded dinghy ride back to the boat.

Before noon we go to Hog Island to work on the dinghy and SUPs. It’s fairly flat ground there so easier to work on stuff. We find decent shade for most of the day but it’s still hot and dirty work. We haven’t seen this before but a shuttle from a cruise ship arrives with fat tourists.

Let the work begin. Glad to have a dinghy we can manage with a motor I can lift alone. It’s a hot day but not bad in the shade. Other than the tourist boat, we have Hog Island to ourselves until the usuals start to arrive around 2 pm.

On the beach but not with pink umbrella drinks

We’re fairly productive:

  • I removed the dinghy motor and while leaned against a tree, put a lock washer on the gear shift lever. Hopefully, this will stop it from coming loose when trying to go into reverse. So nice to have a manageable motor and dinghy.
  • We cleaned up and glued the dinghy bumper guard onto the dinghy
  • Christy worked on the SUPs – what a nasty job. One of them seems to just have a problem with the foot pad, the other has 4 or 5 holes

The cruise ship crowd doesn’t stay too long, we lounge in the water to keep cool while we wait for the glue to dry.

Finally back at the boat, I’m too hot, dirty, sweaty, salty, and sandy to go to Nimrods. Christy wanted to go at least once on a Thursday night but doesn’t put up much of a fight to go as she feels similar.
