It’s another hot one and it’s been very windy every day. Rough to drive around in our dinghy but helpful keeping things cool on board. Except when it rains which is very often, tho not for long. When that happens we have to close the hatches and it gets very warm, very fast down below.
Remembrance of the morning is a little sketchy but by early afternoon we’re back at Hog Island. I drop Christy off where she will try again to repair the SUPs, I go back to Milu to fix the sheave we broke last spring and hopefully pick up our new starter.

After I install the sheave, I get an email that the starter motor has arrived! Woo hoo, I dash in to get it, and have it installed in about half an hour. I leave The Moment of Truth until Christy comes back. I go back to Hog Island where she encourages me to work on the bumper for the dinghy (long rubber piece that protects the outside of the pontoons). We glue it on, then wait an hour while lying in the bay before packing up and heading back to the boat.
Christy is worried about Axel who said he was going spear fishing alone on the reef outside Hog Island. It’s starting to get dark and the Mom in her is kicking in. I tell her not to worry, that kid can take care of himself.
Back on the boat, the Moment of Truth has arrived. I turn the boat key … and …
Nothing.
The starter motor (which I knew needed replacement) was not the whole problem at least.
Well at least Axel arrives safe and sound with 3 fish – two Jack and one Red Snapper which we bake whole in our oven. Tastes great but quite a boney way to eat fish.
