Started out looking a bit sketchy but became hot and sunny soon enough.
I forgot to renew the SIM card by 6 am this morning so we’ll have to find WiFi somewhere today.
It’s Walking Club Day and today we’re meeting at Secret Harbour for a walk to Grooms Beach, which is actually not too far from the airport. That’s a hike.

There’s about 10 of us and we start out via Prickly Bay Yacht Club as Cy needs to drop something off there. I’m outside the restaurant talking to Kevin when it dawns on us they’re taking way too long inside. We look and sure enough, they’re having a beer. It’s 9 am, we’ve been walking for 20 minutes and have a long way to go. I say aside to Christy that if they’re having beer stops every 20 minutes we’ll just walk and leave them behind. “Drinkers with a walking problem” kinda sums it up. Still most of the gang is wholesome and not there just to drink beer every 10 minutes.
Eventually we get to Grooms Beach where the Monkey Bar is (it’s closed tho, I think some of the gang was hoping it would be open). It’s a very nice, secluded beach just around the corner from Mourne Rouge with a couple of very nice looking resorts. Walk around a bit, I take a dump in the forest and then it’s time to move on. 4 or 5 stay behind as they brought beers in a cooler.

We continue the walk, some split off but eventually 5 of us end up back by L’Anse Aux Epines Road where we are finally shown the location of The Brewery. Gets rave reviews but we never knew its location. Amanda says the Watermelon Cider is very good so we get a couple.

OMG it’s good. So refreshing and hard to avoid the brain freeze we’re so hot and thirsty.
Walk back to Secret Harbour with a stop at the fancy mart for some supplies, take a shot of the excellent Prickly Bay view then back to Milu.

The fun is over, time to try and figure out why the boat won’t start. After another few hours of digging around the boat’s wiring, and starting to understand things like battery isolators, I try to test the alternator. I can start the engine by jumping the starter motor but when I do, the windlass and stop solenoid still won’t work. Sounds to me like a faulty alternator. I measure the battery voltage with and without the alternator running – it doesn’t change so now I’m convinced.
Budget Marine has one in stock tho crazy expensive. Tomorrow I’ll try and get a mechanic to come out and prove me right or wrong. I think I’ve done all I can do.
