22 February 2025, Saturday, Mt. Hartman Bay, Grenada

Today is grill day at The Cove so we plan to meet Amanda and Jim there just after lunch. This is good timing since we plan to do the Night Hash tonight and don’t want to get that extreme exercise on a full dinner stomach.

First though, I dinghy Christy in to Secret Cove to catch the free Saturday shopping bus run to Budget, Ace, the bank and CKs. Meanwhile, I work on the shower drain pumps. I fix one, the other one doesn’t work and I find out later it needs a new part. US$229!

It’s another perfect day and we saunter over to The Cove where Christy has the lobster tail, I have the pork chop. Amanda has the shrimp and Jim has the steak. Note to self, steak no good. It is hard to get good beef that is not in a roti here.

Back at the boat we continue our relax/work regimes until about 5:00 pm when we depart for the Hash. We park at the Island View dock and walk towards the Hash which is just near the intersection of Grand Anse and Lower Woburn Rd. It’s rockin’ as usual, the music is always soooo loud.

Brand new Hash Master and it’s always fun as they lead up to the race, telling the Virgins how they get free beer after the race. If only they knew they are going to wear it, not drink it. “No hills, no false trails” they say. Yeah right,

6:30 pm we depart with headlamps and I gradually make my way towards the front. You can’t run the steeps and the track is so narrow and full of bush you can’t pass anyway. Stunning view at the top and I only get misdirected twice on the way back, have to “On back” to get to the right trail.

Finally back at the start, the cold beer tastes great while I wait for Christy. I’m chatting with Paul who is an old fart like me and we move over to the right where the music is a little less deafening. Sure enough, here comes Christy, she’s walking with Paul’s wife Bridget! Funny.

Pre-hash

Soon enough, we are walking back to Island View and dinghy home in the dark. No troubles.
