In the morning we decide to explore a bit of Falmouth/English Harbour on foot. Dinghy in and manage to find a spot to tie up AND lock the dinghy. The locking part is usually the most difficult on this dinghy dock. We find out on Monday there is a much more civilized dinghy dock over by the marina.

We walk up to the Nelson National Park, have to convince them we’ve already paid (EC$300!) for entry and so we stroll around. It’s very well preserved, most of the original buildings have been converted to something useful, usually boat-related and there are plenty of information signs explaining the history. The English attitude towards history is quite a contrast to the French islands where they either ignore their history, don’t maintain it and certainly don’t document it.

We walk back around the bay to the northwest, eventually turning around as we pass most of the interesting places. On the way back we stop at a quaint little seaside restaurant that seems quite popular. That’s a good sign. We get a very nice table on the ocean and get two excellent meals – jerk pork for me, bbq chicken for Christy. Chat with the waiter a bit and watch the huge carp come around in the shallows for the restaurant’s leftovers they toss in the ocean.

We go back to Milu but the off/on rain that is prevalent this weekend stops us from heading to Pigeon Beach, which is actually swimmable from where we’re anchored but the frequent rain dissuades us. Kinda lounge around the boat.
