23 March 2026, Monday, Ste. Anne, Martinique

Today is shopping/chore day in Le Marin. Lots to do so we dinghy in as soon as the rain lets off. It’s mercifully cloudy all day, rains a bit here and there but not too bad so good to be in town. We don’t head into town until just after noon.

First stop is the gas dock where we fill up the dinghy gas and find out they open at 8 am tomorrow.

Next stop is garbage and check out at customs. I miss the Customs lunch break by 5 minutes so have to return at 2 pm. Over the next couple of hours we traverse Le Marin a couple of times and visit the chandleries, the grocery stores and the China Store – our version of a dollar store. There we find, miracle of miracles, a snake! I buy the biggest one and hopefully it will clear the drain of the aft bathroom. Though I have never had much luck with these manual snakes, the alternative is ugly. At the Carre Four we run into Andre (after I had a Pomme Cannelle which was devoid of apple and cinnamon). Nice to chat with him and he showed us some cool boat monitoring stuff.

Eventually we get back to Milu, have dinner and prepare for departure tomorrow. Not a huge day as St. Lucia is only about 24 nms and we have to fill up with diesel first. 8 am is the earliest we can hit the gas dock so a restful evening and not-too-late morning in store.
