No need to rush as we want to give boats time to leave Mayreau. Except as we have breakfast the park rangers come by and we have to pay. Should have left and had breakfast at Mayreau.
It’s only 2 or 3 miles over to Mayreau so after breakfast we motor over. No mooring balls available and no one comes out to offer one so we anchor just past the other boats. A bit of a lee shore with the reef behind us but maybe we’ll move if we get the chance.
I have a call to join with Metrolinx and the cell service is no good here. We’ve decided to go to The Ranch for lunch so the plan is to go to The Last Bar Before the Jungle for a drink and use their WiFi, then walk to the ranch. We had thoughts of the girls starting ahead but this seems like a good plan.
The Last Bar is pretty quiet at 11 am and their WiFi is good. I have my call with Metrolinx and pretty much close that deal. We finish our drinks and start the walk. Turns out to be a bit painful for Liz, I didn’t realize she got a strong sunburn while snorkeling so the sun beating down on her is uncomfortable and this walk is long and hot. Just as we pass the new kite surfer hotel I realize I left the dinghy keys in the dinghy. I jog back to get them while the girls continue. Takes a few minutes to warm up running barefoot in the sand but after a few hundred yards feels good. I catch up to them about 1/4 of the way along the path over the headland.
It’s always longer than we remember it and the strong lunar tides make it substantially harder as the beaches are eroded quite a bit and the surf strong so you can’t really walk along the surf edge. It’s just over an hour hot walk to the ranch but it’s always worth it. The smoothies are oh-so-cold and refreshing. We all order fish for lunch which turns out to be pretty good red snapper. We had planned to walk back through town and visit the church view but it is very hot and Liz is suffering a bit with her sunburn so we ask Monroe to give us a lift. He obliges kindly.
Nice to be back at Saltwhistle Bay but we don’t linger too long. The girls browse the vendors a bit but soon we’re back in the dinghy and heading for Milu for a saltwater swim and freshwater shower. Feels good.
It’s another beautiful night with the moon very full. I take some drone shots before and after moon rise. It’s really quite spectacular.
