3 April 2026, Friday, Paradise Beach to Mt. Hartman Bay, Grenada

We’ve been watching the weather and wind the past few days and it really looks like we’ve made the right decisions all along. Although the winds have been a little light, they haven’t been too strong and nothing but sunshine the whole trip. Saturday and Sunday look kinda nasty but we should be nestled safely in Mt. Hartman Bay by then.

We’re off the mooring and sailing by 7 am. The winds ARE light and since I resolved that 5 kts was our minimum speed the entire way, we end up motor sailing some of the time. Around the bottom of Carriacou and towards the top of Grenada we can only do about 3+ kts though we have a fair bit of canvas out.

The wind is due east so it’s quite rolly down the east coast of Grenada and not much fun. Eventually the wind moves almost dead behind us and both sails are flapping. Christy and I drop the main and I mount the whisker pole to sail downwind the last two hours or so. We’re averaging 5 kts without trouble and it is very relaxing. The girls nod off in the cockpit while I enjoy the sail. We have plenty of time now. At 3:15 pm we’ve found George’s orange mooring ball and have tied up to it.

Welcome home Milu.

We’re all pretty tired and a bit salty. Christy asks what I would do if she invited Jim and Amanda over and I told her I would ask for a divorce. Mostly kidding. They do dinghy by to say hello which is OK, I get up from my attempt at a nap below and chat a bit. Christy says we’re planning on going to the Hash tomorrow, have they ever been? Amanda almost spills the beans about the Virgin ceremony but not quite so hopefully Liz doesn’t defer.
