5 April 2026, Sunday, Mt. Hartman Bay, Grenada

A pretty nasty morning, very overcast and rains hard off and on. To some degree we don’t mind a bit of a rest day but we had hoped to show Hog Island on a Sunday (BBQs and music) but it is not looking good.

It’s looking OK to try the Walking Club, so a bit late, we venture over to Island View to meet them. We’re 10 minutes late and they’ve gone already so we start out behind them, following Google maps to the Golf Club which we believe is there destination. (Turns out “the Golf Club” is code for another place, a restaurant that is not a restaurant, the old owners of Taffy’s who apparently are not allowed to operate a restaurant for some reason.) It is a pleasant walk on a newly concreted road, we have to hole out in the pizza place for a short rain storm but that is all the bad weather we see this morning.

The golf club is interesting, very dry but the greens look good. Will definitely give it a try, probably not until next fall though.

We carry on down the hill to Grand Anse, the other part of Grenada that must be seen. We walk along, looking for a coffee or something reasonable to eat. Not much open on Easter Sunday except the Cayoba Resort which is pretty fancy. We ask if we can get a coffee and the security guard says “Sure, the breakfast buffet is EC$85 each”. Yikes. That’s too rich for our blood but Liz graciously offers to buy us breakfast there and we gorge ourselves over a decent buffet, couple of cappucinos each.

After breakfast the girls want to swim so I go to the bank while they explore and swim. Afterwards, we catch a daytime bus that is doing weekend taxi duty who charges us EC$80 for the ride back to Island View. That’s a bit rich and we try to haggle but he is having none of it. “It’s Easter Sunday” he says, probably rightly. Nice guy though.

Soon enough we’re back on Milu having never run into the Walking Club but we can see they have come and gone from the Island View dock.

The weather is pretty dodgy and Hog Island is not looking good which is a shame but c’est la vie. Around 4 pm the weather clears at least for now and we make the trip over. It is quite a scene as always and we’re glad Liz got to experience it. They have a couple of rum punches while we chat with Jim and Amanda who also waited for the rain, although we have to duck under one of the tarps for a short rain storm. Dinghy home just after 6 pm as the sun is setting and more rain in the skies.

Blustery night, rockier than normal in Mt. Hartman Bay for Liz’s last night on the boat.
