Day 13 – Flat Creek – Nov 14, 2022

Twas an interesting evening, I was in down jacket, sweater and cycling toque as I watched a zoom session on how to defend yourself against the Trudeau regime. Might need that but looks like most tickets like mine are being dropped.

Biggest overnight issue was my g-d thermarest has a hole in it. I left Christy’s with her so I slept pretty much on the ground. Also pretty cold (under 10C) so I doubled up the sleeping bags and was cozy that way at least. Ground = hard, thankfully all sand and no rocks/roots.

Guess who’s in control of coffee now? ME!! Percolated camp coffee is a little strong but oh so good with oatmeal breakfast.

Hoping to easily close out at least two of my CIBC files today that are dragging on and sucking up my life. But nooooo. (I tried to find a sound effect of John Belushi doing that but, uh, no.) In fact, a new one unexpectantly turns into frantic panic and sucks up all morning. It’s cold, rainy, so not much to do anyway but I suspect the weather makes my hot spot slow and it takes twice as long to do anything.

Duck tape doesn’t fix the thermarest so gotta go to Walmart in Quincy. It’s on the way to the Golf Club of Quincy which I am hoping to play today so not too bad. Town of Quincy looks a bit tired but I get a double bed blow up mattress (it was the cheapest thing, pool inflatables all sold out). Stop at the Subway for a quick lunch and use their wifi to close out the last few things – hot spot at a picnic table ain’t cutting it. Put out the fires for now anyway.

Golf Club of Quincy is a short hop away. It’s still pretty cold so I have long pants, shirt and overshirt. Bit of a mistake as it eventually is quite sunny and hot walking.

Fun course

It ain’t Pebble Beach but it’s great fun, quite challenging and I have the place to myself.

Guy in the clubhouse at the end doesn’t have change to he gives me my beer free. Wotta country.

Back at the camp it is still quite pleasant. Somehow I manage to inflate this monster queen bed with the built in electric pump. Have to inflate outside the tent, then fold it to go inside since I don’t have an extension cord. The friggin’ thing takes up the whole tent! It’s a bit soft since I can’t inflate it all the way but better than sleeping on the ground.

  1. Jeez…Perry I have two of your blow up mattresses here that Christy was getting rid of. Oh well, glad you were comfortable! Safe trip.
