Well it’s Christy’s birthday and it starts off well with Joe coming over in his dinghy and inviting us to a combo party on his power cat. Cathy and Tim (Guelph couple on a non-sailing sailboat near us) are leaving tomorrow, it’s somebody else’s birthday too and he knows about Christy.
I call Frankie in the morning and he will come out today! Have to rearrange my Cloudli call re the Manitoba Public Insurance RFP but that’s OK. Frankie takes a look at the situation, agrees with the problem and pulls out his mondo wrench and we try to tighten the keel bolts. That’s a man-sized socket, maybe 1.5″ and he’s got man-sized extensions and levers. I hold it vertical while he reefs on the wrench. We get maybe a half-to-three-quarter turn out of each of them. There is no hope of pulling a 7 ton lead keel UP but maybe we can secure the hull down.
We’ll see.
We go to La Phare Bleu through a very rough crossing, we’re both soaked. As we are walking up the walkway, I ask Christy “Are you sure it’s open?” Crap, it ain’t. Wasted trip, soaking wet.
Later on we go to Joe’s for a pot luck dinner and meet a bunch of new people. We really like Mt. Hartman Bay, there is a whole little community here.
