4 January 2026, Sunday, Fort-de-France, Martinique

We’re up pretty early and unpacking and resorting. Lots of stuff to put away and things to do before Scott and Carol arrive at the ferry around 3 pm.

Early in the day I get a WhatsApp message from Scott that their ferry was cancelled – they are scrambling to get a flight. They scramble, they score, they get a flight and it is projected to land at 2:30 pm, just a half hour earlier than the ferry so no skin of our noses either way. They end up chartering “Squeezy” to fly them and another couple in a Piper Cub across the channel from St. Lucia to Martinique. US$500 for the pair, not a bad deal for Squeezy who drops them, returns for another four people he is taking to Dominica. I take the car to the airport to pick them up. I go to the wrong terminal, but we eventually figure out where the non-commercial terminal is.

Back at Milu, Christy scans us in and I park the car while the gang starts loading and unpacking gear.

Later we go to the Bay Watch restaurant on site at the marina for pizza. It’s busy so the only table is the “swing set” out back. Not bad, nice view of the moon but eventually I have to go and get a waiter to take our order, the service is so slow. Good pizza tho.

While there we discuss our plans for the next couple days with the rental car.
