Packing up Christy finds two of her special tea bags – she has been milking one miserable bag for about 3 days.

Next stop Detroit (the narrows). We’re going to visit Melissa and Don – old friends who wisely talk us into just powering through the drive from Nashville to Detroit instead of making it a two-day affair. Actually saves a bunch of money on hotels and food. These big state-named rivers (the Ohio, the Tennessee, the Kentucky) look big and interesting but will have to wait for another time. We motor on through.

It’s a nice sunny day, good for driving and we take turns throughout the 8 hour journey. Getting colder every hour as we go north. Our data plan runs out and so does our voice plan. Not sure why we are going through so much data but too much work to figure out. Can’t even add on data since our AT&T plan expired. No data for us until Canada sometime tomorrow.

We arrive in Detroit as the sun sets. One beer chez Melissa/Don (M83? Nice local IPA) then we go out for dinner. The place is hopping for a school night (maybe cuz the Lions won today) but the food is fantastic.

That a**hole Don pays before I can get a chance to beat him to it. They saved us two nights hotels and paid for dinner. F’ing jerk.

Final final back at their place, Don and I talk golf then we are done. He is an early riser too.
