2024-Oct 19 – Toronto to Grenada

Well here we go again … back to get Milu back in the water and start our next round of adventures.

First, gotta get there. A bit of drama at the cottage when, on the moment of departure for Toronto, Christy can’t find her passport. We search and search, find nothing, she calls the Passport Office, maybe she could get an emergency replacement by next Tuesday. This is not good. We’re both convinced the passport is here somewhere so we buckle down to tear the place apart until it appears. I’m downstairs when a yell of “I FOUND IT” erupts from upstairs. Phew. Now where were we?

We leave my truck at Outer Harbour Marina for the 6 weeks we will be gone. When Shaun and I hauled out Augusta II we asked the haulout crews if this could be done and they courteously showed me where to park it. This was Shaun’s idea and a good one – if I had parked in the wrong place, they would just have towed it.

We sleep the night of the 18th at the condo and catch an early Uber to the airport. All goes well and we have enough time to get a coffee at the airport before boarding (no mean feat – the Timmy’s there is notoriously slow). After an uneventful flight, all our gear arrives intact at the other end. I book a car for Wednesday (we’re hoping to need it to pick up our barrel in Port Louis) and then taxi to Izzy’s Apartments, about a 20 minute walk from Clarke’s Court.

It’s hot but not too much, glad to get out of jeans and sweaters for sure. A wonderful surprise of two cold beers await us in the fridge which we consume with relish. We walk up to the market about 5 minutes away – a little sketchy on the way home in the dark but we survive. Saturday night dinner of dehydrated food – C is in bed early, I stay up later (yeah, that’s right, me) to update this blog.
