27 February 2025, Thursday, Mt. Hartman Bay, Grenada

Today I am tackling a job I’ve wanted to do for a while – changing the fuel filters and pump impellor. The pump impellor is a beast due to it’s location – under the sink and behind a bunch of wires and pipes. I’ve never done one before but eventually get it done.

Next on to the secondary fuel filter, pretty easy but I get a fair bit of diesel on me. The primary is the one that I have the wrong part for but can’t tell until I get the old one off and get diesel all over. Still I clean it up (it’s pretty gunky) and will order a couple spares in Chinada.

Online it says you don’t have to bleed Yanmar engines after changing fuel filters so I trust that and start the engine. Starts like a dream, no water or diesel leaks so all good. Top up the coolant while I’m there.

Later we walk over the hill to Prickly Bay to renew our Cruising Permit. I screw it up and overpay but don’t want to go back cuz I’m hot and tired and cranky. Christy does, then comes to get me. Instead of an $EC300 fee, it’s $EC150 but, typical of Grenadians, God love ’em, the immigration agent can’t add so gives us three months on our permit instead of two.

We walk back and check out the Secret Harbour pool since we’ll be on the pier for the weekend and will have access to the facilities. Last time we were here it was green and gross but now looks great.

Later we’re invited to go to Nimrod’s by Paul and Sue from Haven’t a Clue but we’re not much in the mood for that though George is operating a bus.

Quiet night at home.
