5 March 2025, Wednesday, Carriacou, Grenada

A little rocky at Paradise Beach but we still pretty good. Anything is better than the dock at Secret Harbour.

Good to be back in Carriacou

We’ve connected with Carriacou Marine about our keel issue and they say they don’t do that kind of work but Manny does. Well that’s the guy recommended by Andre’s friend. I call him, he says he’ll be in Carriacou tonight.

We decide to walk to Hillsborough instead of Tyrell Bay for some supplies. Turns out to be a long walk but when we ask a couple expat ladies if what looks like a shortcut is a shortcut, they say no, but offer us a lift into town.

They turn out to be vets on their way to pick up strays for “Spay and Neuter Day”. We jam into the back of their mini-SUV where the seats are up to hold the dog crates. Christy’s phone falls out of her pocket and we don’t notice until they drop us off and drive away. Panic ensues. I’m not too worried since I know the road they are on is a dead end. They either have to come back this way or we will find them. In 2 minutes they are on the way back and all problems solved.

Hillsborough is very sad with all the hurricane decimation. Whole buildings gone and no surprise our favourite little beach bar at the north end is completely collapsed with no chance of restoration.

We walk around a bit but not much to do/buy here so we catch a bus back to Paradise Beach.

I have to jump on a call so Christy stays behind at Paradise Beach Club to paint our boat sign. They do that on Wednesdays, then they hang it up somewhere onsite. PBC is completely rebuilt and like many rebuildings, is better than before.

Later on we return for dinner, the place is very busy not surprising since Allison is the only game on the beach now. Clearly she is entrepreneurial and is capitalizing on her investment. CAN$30 for a hamburger. We have two burgers and a couple drinks = CAN$100.

Bless her heart.
