7 March 2025, Friday, Carriacou to Mayreau

We’re up early as things to do before the short ride over to Union and then on to Mayreau for the night.

I drop Christy off at the grocery store in Tyrell Bay then go on to Budget. I saw an anchor there yesterday that is the right size and pretty affordable so we decided to buy it. I also get some rope and hardware for it. Takes two trips to the dinghy dock, then I go back and pick up Christy on the beach.

Back on Milu, we organize things a bit (I manage to find a place to put this anchor) then get ready to go. Dinghy over to Carriacou Marine, check out, drop off some garbage then off we motor over to Union Island where we check in to SVG.

Clifton was shockingly devastated by the hurricane. It is very sad. Never a very warm and welcoming place, it now looks like a war zone. Even the customs house has moved and it takes us a while to find it. Pick up a few necessities (like Hairoun beer) then depart for the short motor to Mayreau. Lovely weather all round.

Happy Island looks a bit rough but is operational. We don’t stop in.

In Saltwhistle Bay the play is hopping. We find a decent anchorage but if we were half an hour later I’m not sure we would. It’s crazy town with all the French cats roaring around looking for moorings. We’re thinking we should have stopped at Saline Bay around the corner on the way in.

We stay on board for the night and watch the nutjobs from Martinique in their huge charter cats. Forget to close everything up and we have a few bat visitors but only lose one banana.
