9 March 2025, Sunday, Mayreau to Tobago Cays

We leave Mayreau for the Cays at a respectable time. Want to give the people that are there enough time to clear out, but not enough time that a bunch more move in. Get there about mid-day. Lots of room to anchor, we settle just off the main beach, very swimmable. It’s not very crowded when we arrive, doesn’t get too crowded at all.

We see Captain Neal’s new boat (actually we saw it in Mayreau) so we’re sure he’s back in business. We swim to shore and book lobster on his menu with the chef. Dinner at 6. It ain’t cheap at US$100 for two of us and THAT because Neal gives us a deal, but it’s just one of those things you have to do down here. Swim with the turtles and have excellent bbq lobster on the beach.

We wile away the day, take the dinghy over to the turtle park later in the afternoon. There are very few turtles, no rays, not many fish. We find out the hurricane really hurt the sea grass around the park – in fact there seems to be more turtles around Milu where the grass wasn’t as damaged.

Friendly visitor

I fly the drone and take a decent shot. Eventually it is time to go ashore for dinner. So we go ashore for dinner. It’s great as usual. We run into the same group we had drinks with on Mayreau, they are on their way to Bequia tomorrow also.
