Christy here… giving Perry a break from posting…
We’re up early as we have a pretty long sail to Bequia today. We leave by 8 am and the sail should take us about five hours or so. We notice beside us as we depart the Cays that the boat, Africots, the folks we met in Mayreau at SWB and then again at the Cays Lobster feast, are just ahead of us sailing out. We follow them out through the reefs outside of the Cays. He’s a very experienced captain and his cutter, a rig with an extra sail (a stay sail) upfront, can sail quite well going upwind. We also have a stay sail that we can put up (with much effort so we don’t this time) and it would’ve helped us with our speed as we see Africots zoom ahead and start making quite a gap between us… they are fast, so fast Perry thinks they have the motor on lol!
We decide to put the fishing rod out again and once again we catch some sargasso weed… still no fish for us.

We arrive Bequia just before 1 pm so we still make good time. We anchor just off St. Margarets Beach which is a favourite spot and we are close enough that we can swim to the Beach. There’s also snorkelling close by which I will do sometime before we leave here.

Once settled on anchor, we set off for a little walk into town and to Plantation for their Happy Hour! It’s a lovely walk on the boardwalk and we check to see if we can find Marj, Kaaren’s friend we met in Grenada, who is supposed to be renting a little yellow cottage on the boardwalk during this time. We walk by a yellow cottage but no sign of any life. We’ll check again tomorrow. We head back to the Plantation, our favourite lux resort with a fantastic Happy Hour, however once we get there we find out that they only run it Tuesdays and Thursdays now… so we will come back tomorrow!
We go back to the boat, I make dinner and get my sourdough starter ready (I dehydrated some and re-hydrated it over the last few days) to attempt to make a loaf tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed it will work down here!
